The tasks of the Parliament

Parliament is the decision-making and inspection body of the region. Its terms of office last 4 years, starting with the election day. The Wielkopolska Regional Parliament consists of 39 members chosen in direct elections by the region’s inhabitants.

The Parliament, working as a decision making body, implements tasks described in the legal acts. Decisions are made in the form of resolutions during the sessions. Parliament’s resolutions are passed by a simple majority of votes in the presence of at least half of the Parliament in an open or open roll-call ballot, otherwise regulations do not specify differently.

The controlling functions of Parliament are implemented by the Audit Commissions and other standing committees control rights as well as through interpellations and members’ inquiries.
In its first session, the Parliament chooses the Marshal in a secret ballot and the other members of the board of the region on the Marshal request.

Regional Parliament chooses the President of the regional Parliament, who is responsible for the organisation of the Parliament works and conducting sessions.
