PROSPECTIVE WIELKOPOLSKA
Wielkopolska is the third most populous region in the country. Around 3,400,000 people live there, including around 1,000,000 young people aged 18 – 39. Thanks to this the region has further, fast development in view.
Young people are a numerous and strong group in Wielkopolska, contributing greatly to the region’s possibilities. People aged 40 and under can easily adopt to the changing conditions of the labour market, and this enables the development and establishment of new companies. The number of work places is growing and Wielkopolska is already the second Polish region with the lowest unemployment rate. The residents of Wielkopolska are believed to be reliable, honest and well-qualified workers.
However, there are still areas with a labour surplus, often among young, qualified people. The areas include districts in the eastern part of the region: Konin, Koło, Pleszew, Słupca and districts situated in the northern part of the region: Złotów and Wągrowiec.
The population density of the region is also uneven. Most people live in the central part of the region, where there are almost 600,000 inhabitants in the Poznań conurbation itself. In general, 57.3% of the region’s population live in the cities of Wielkopolska.
Statistics show that the number of inhabitants in Wielkopolska is growing. On the one hand, this is down to the increasing birth rate, and on the other to the number of people migrating to the region. Migration is connected with the economic attractiveness of the region and with Poznań’s academic character.
